At around 9.50pm on Monday, August 21, police were called to reports of concerns for welfare of a man on Dumers Lane in Radcliffe, off the junction of Riverside Road.
Officers then established that a 30-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Jamil Satchell, 19, of West View, Haslingden, has been charged with numerous offences including a grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.
He has been remanded into custody to next appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, September 28.
Officers are continuing to appeal for information as they progress their investigation and have asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward.
Detective Constable David Potter, of Greater Manchester Police’s Bury district, said: “This is obviously a concerning incident for residents, but I want to assure them that our investigation has been robust and comprehensive.
“I would urge anyone who might have information that could help us – no matter how small you think it is – to please get in touch.
“This includes anyone who may have been in the area, or has dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage during the approximate time of the incident.”
