MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After winning the section championship, the Blue Streaks carried the momentum from that win into today’s 7-0 region win over Section 3’s Liverpool.
Jackie Cutting scored off a wild pitch putting the Blue Streaks on the board. Then, moments later Toga used nifty base running but got caught. Despite that Natalie Conroy saw an opening to take home plate and took it.
Later on, Charlotte Drabek singled to left plating Arianna Avila to give Saratoga a 3-0 lead after the first inning. The Blue Streaks offense plated four more runs.
Jackie Cutting was dialed into the moment in the circle pitching seven innings only giving up one hit, striking out five batters, and surrendering no hits. Cutting believes taking things slow and soaking in the small moments paid off for the team.
“I think something different about our team is that we take it pitch by pitch. We celebrate the little things. There is probably four or five infield pop flies and everyone’s running over to the girl after she catches it because they mean a lot. Little things mean a lot.”
The Blue Streaks will play Section 4’s Corning-Painted Post in the semifinals on Friday, June 7, at noon.
