SF Giants place trade acquisition on injured list, recall Heliot Ramos

The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder AJ Pollock on the injured list with a left oblique strain, the team announced before Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Outfielder Heliot Ramos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento as the corresponding roster move to replace Pollock on the active roster. Pollock, 35, was removed from Tuesday’s 7-5 loss to the Angels at Angel Stadium with left side discomfort.

The Giants acquired Pollock along with 29-year-old infielder Mark Mathais from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations a few days before the trade deadline. He was placed on the 10-day injured list and could miss a few weeks.

Pollock — a longtime Giants adversary in his years with the Arizona Diamondbacks — is yet to record his first hit with the Giants in six plate appearances over five games. Pollock came to the Giants slashing .173/.225/.323 with a .547 OPS in 49 games.

Ramos, 23, is slashing .303/.359/.543 with a .902 OPS and eight home runs in 45 games with the Sacramento River Cats this season.
