Every woman wants a clean, blemish-free skin. But for many reasons, many of us have rashes, acne and blemishes. Though these problems seem harmless but over the course and being out in the sun for too long, it cause overproduction of melanin. This is called ‘Hyperpigmentation’. In this condition, your skin becomes darker than the other areas. This is caused by sun exposure, hormonal changes and other factors. If you think that chemical-based products are the only treatment, then you are wrong. Several home remedies can control the problem of hyperpigmentation.
How to Avoid Hyperpigmentation in Summer
- Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to all exposed skin, including your face, neck, arms, and hands, every day, even on cloudy days. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more frequently if swimming or sweating.
- Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants to support overall skin health.
- Follow a consistent skincare routine that includes gentle cleansing, exfoliation, and moisturization to keep your skin healthy and resilient.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and maintain its natural moisture barrier.
- Wear protective clothing. Cover up with lightweight, long-sleeved clothing, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses to shield your skin and eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
- Always use natural ingredients such as aloe vera, cucumber, and rose water in your skincare routine to soothe and cool the skin, especially after sun exposure.
Few Remedies For Hyperpigmentation
1. Applying sesame oil helps in hyperpigmentation
Sesame oil is a natural emollient, meaning it helps to lock in moisture and maintain skin hydration. Proper hydration is essential for healthy skin and can contribute to a more even skin tone. However, always perform a patch test before using sesame oil, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
Cleanse your skin thoroughly to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup. Take a few drops of sesame oil and massage it gently onto the hyperpigmented areas. Allow the oil to absorb into the skin for at least 15-20 minutes. Patt skin with hot wet towel and then wash it off.
2. Vitamin C for hyperpigmentation
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help brighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation. Mixing a cream with a high-quality vitamin C serum or powder can help enhance its skin-brightening effects. Take a tablespoon of fresh malai and add 1/4 teaspoon of lemon zest in it. Mix the two well and apply it all over the face. Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse it with water.
3. Almond and Yogurt for hyperpigmentation
Almonds contain natural skin-brightening properties that can help fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Regular use of almond-based products, such as almond oil or almond milk, can contribute to a brighter complexion over time. Almond oil is an excellent moisturizer for the skin, thanks to its emollient properties. It helps lock in moisture, keeping the skin hydrated.
Soak a handful of almonds in water overnight, then blend them with yogurt and honey to create almond face pack. Apply it on the face and neck, leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.
