Lexus’s smallest crossover, the UX, might get ignored by some because it’s been a bit down on power since its introduction. While the brand made moves to remedy this by making the UX’s sole powertrain option a 181 horsepower hybrid setup for 2023, prior to that buyers could choose a base front wheel drive UX200 that puttered around with a non-hybrid 169-hp I4. That’s changed for 2025, with the UX gaining more power by way of the Toyota Prius.

While it’s still hybrid only, the 2025 Lexus UX gets a new hybrid powertrain lifted from directly from the Prius. The result is 196 total system horsepower and a new name, UX300h. The hybrid powertrain consists of a 60-cell lithium ion battery located under the rear seat. It gets paired with a dual motor setup: an 83-kWh motor on the front and a 30-kWh motor in the rear. Lexus says with this setup, the UX300h can hit 60 mph in 7.9 seconds for all wheel drive models, eight seconds for front wheel drive models. Sadly the only transmission option for this powertrain is a CVT.

Efficiency is improved as well. Lexus says the UX300h with all wheel drive can expect to hit 41 mpg while front wheel drive models will be the most efficient at 43 mpg.

Not much else about the UX gets updated for 2025. There’s the addition of a new electronic shifter, new switches on the door panels and a 12.3-inch display on all but the base model (it gets a seven-inch screen). The UX also gets new exterior color choices. And for buyers that like a bit of choice with their vehicle, remember, Lexus sells this thing in eight different versions, from lowly base models all the way up to F Sport trims with features like sports seats and adaptive suspensions. No word on pricing yet but Lexus says the 2025 UX is set to go on sale after the start of the new year, with pricing being announced closer to its on sale date.
