In an age when $20,000 can barely get you a decent used car, it’s refreshing to learn the 2024 Nissan Versa will start at $16,130.
While the model costs $150 more than its predecessor, the Versa is the cheapest new car in America as the 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage begins at $16,695.
There doesn’t appear to be any changes for 2024, but the entry-level Versa S comes equipped with halogen headlights and 15-inch steel wheels. Buyers will also find an acoustic laminated glass windshield, which helps to keep the cabin relatively quiet.

The cabin is value-focused as the entry-level variant has a fixed rear seat and eschews a center console armrest. That being said, the car comes with cruise control, remote keyless entry, power windows/locks, a four-speaker audio system, and a 7-inch infotainment system. Buyers will also find a handful of driver assistance systems including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist.
The $19,420 Versa SV is a sizable step up as it features additional body color components and 16-inch alloy wheels. The model also has a push-button ignition, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster. Other highlights include upgraded upholstery, a split-folding rear seat, and a center console with an armrest. The mid-level variant also has Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The range-topping Versa SR begins at $20,140 and is distinguished by LED headlights, a dark chrome grille, and larger 17-inch alloy wheels. The model also has a rear spoiler and black mirrors with integrated turn signals.
The upgrades continue in the cabin as drivers will find a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch infotainment system. Other highlights include heated front seats, an automatic climate control system, special upholstery, and adaptive cruise control.
A 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine resides under the hood, where it produces 122 hp (91 kW / 124 PS) and 114 lb-ft (154 Nm) of torque. The entry-level Versa S has a five-speed manual, while other trims are equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The latter enables the car to return up to 32 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined.
