1970s Yorkshire was a dangerous time to be a woman. Over the course of five years, serial killer Peter Sutcliffe stalked and murdered his way through some of the North’s largest towns – Leeds, Bradford, and Manchester – leaving a trail of victims in his wake.

Now, the gruesome story of what he did, and how he was caught, has been made into a true crime series on ITV. Titled The Long Shadow, it examines just how Sutcliffe managed to get away with his massive killing spree – and how the police managed to miss him so many times.
