Victorians have two more weeks to apply for the current $250 Power Saving Bonus payment from the state government.
The new round of the payment was an election promise and was confirmed after the Andrews government’s success at the November 2022 state election.
The $250 payment has been available to any household that compares their energy deal through the Victorian Energy Compare website and was made accessible from Friday, March 24, 2023.

The current round of the bonus will close at 11.59pm on August 31.
After that cut-off, new applications will not be accepted.
The Power Saving Bonus is open to all eligible Victorian households, including those who have received payments under previous rounds.
“We know Victorians are doing it tough with the rising cost of energy – that’s why we’ll have a new round of the $250 Power Saving Bonus, putting money in families’ pockets and making sure they’re on the best deal,” Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said in a statement in March.
“We’re driving down bills and putting power back in Victorians’ hands by bringing back the SEC and delivering cheap, clean, sustainable energy.”
In June, Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio said more than 1.5 million households applied for the $250 bonus within the first three months of the program opening.
When it becomes available
The payments were made available via the Victorian Energy Compare website from Friday, March 24, 2023.
They are available until 11.59pm on Thursday, August 31.
How to apply
Residents will need to put in their name, email address and phone number on the form when it pops up on the website.
There will be a helpline for those who cannot access the website on 1800 000 832.
As part of the application, information will be given about the best priced electricity offers available in the area, but applicants do not need to switch offers or retailers to receive the bonus.
If applied for electronically, the payment drops into bank accounts within two weeks.
