ST. LOUIS – It was a violent night in the city of St. Louis. Multiple shootings leave four people, including a young boy, hurt and one person dead.

The details are still unfolding in these cases. At this point, we know that since a little after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, there have been at least five shootings in the city of St. . Louis with tragic and deadly results.

It all started with police responding to a shooting on the 800 block of Elias around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday. That was in the Baden neighborhood of north St. Louis. Investigators told FOX 2 that a 10-year-old boy was shot in the leg. The police revealed that the child was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital.

He was reported to be stable.

Investigators shared that after the child was shot, he ran to a resident’s home for help and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. No suspects are in custody.

Then, a little before 8:30 p.m., police rushed to the 5900 block of Ferris in the north city in the Mark Twain Interstate 70 industrial neighborhood. There, they found an adult male shot in the head. We’re told he was unconscious and not breathing when he was discovered.

On Thursday morning, police explained that the man is still alive but homicide detectives have been called in because his injuries are severe. A suspect is in custody.

About 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, the violence shifted to the 3400 block of Chippewa in the Dutchtown neighborhood of south city. Officers shared that EMS crews found an adult man shot in the chest. He was unconscious and not breathing.

That victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There are no identified suspects in that case.

Two other shootings Wednesday night left another man and a woman hurt as well. There have now been at least 26 murders so far this year in the city of St. Louis. During this same week last year, there were 18 homicides.

FOX 2 will update these stories with more information as it becomes available.
