Last weekend was a big one at the box office, with director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie netting $155 million in North American ticket sales and Christopher Nolan’s three-hour Oppenheimer bringing in $80.5 million (and “Barbenheimer” making up the fourth-largest weekend in box office history).
Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan’s twelfth film and his largest debut outside of the Batman trilogy. Whether you loved the three-hour drama (or not), here’s how to watch the other 11 Christopher Nolan movies via streaming.
Tenet (2020)
Nolan’s most recent (pre-Oppenheimer) film is a sci-fi thriller that stars Robert Pattinson and John David Washington and takes on themes of time travel.
Where to stream: Tenet is streaming on DirecTV and TNT/TBS/TruTV and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
Dunkirk (2017)
Nolan’s war epic tells the story of soldiers trapped on the beaches at Dunkirk during WWII—without much dialogue. The film was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Where to stream: Dunkirk is streaming on Netflix and Max and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
Interstellar (2014)
Sci-fi thriller Interstellar depicts Matthew McConaughey (an ex-astronaut) and Anne Hathaway traveling through a wormhole to other universes on a mission to find a habitable place that can save humanity.
Where to stream: Interstellar is streaming on Prime Video, Paramount+, MGM+, and FXNow and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Inception (2010)
Inception stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the leader of sophisticated thieves who typically steal ideas from targets’ minds but then are hired instead to plant an idea, which they do by accessing subsequently deeper layers of dreams—at the risk of getting stuck there forever.
Where to stream: Inception is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
The Dark Knight (2008)
The second film in the Batman trilogy introduces the late Heath Ledger’s the Joker, for which he won a posthumous Oscar.
Where to stream: The Dark Knight is streaming on Max and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
The Prestige (2006)
The Prestige is Nolan’s adaptation of the 1995 novel by the same name. This psychological thriller pits two rival magicians (played by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman) against each other to master the same trick.
Where to stream: The Prestige is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
Batman Begins (2005)
The first of Nolan’s Batman trilogy, this film captures Bruce Wayne’s origin story and the journey to becoming the Dark Knight.
Where to stream: Batman Begins is streaming on Max and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
Insomnia (2002)
Insomnia stars Al Pacino as a cop who accidentally kills his partner while on a murder investigation in Alaska. This psychological thriller is the only film Nolan directed but did not write or co-write. Robin Williams also stars in a rare villain role.
Where to stream: Insomnia is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
Memento (2000)
Another psychological thriller, Memento is based on a short story written by Nolan’s brother Jonathan. The film’s main character has anterograde amnesia, and the narrative is told as two interspersed sequences (one chronologically, one in reverse order).
Where to stream: Memento is streaming on Hoopla and Kanopy and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
Following (1998)
In contrast to Oppenheimer and several other films in the Nolan catalog, Following is only an hour long. He wrote, directed, and edited this story about a writer who tags along with a thief (like DiCaprio’s character in Inception, also named Cobb) for creative inspiration.
Where to stream: Following is streaming on AMC+, Tubi, and DirecTV and is available to rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube.
