CRWAFORD COUNTY, Mo. – A woman accused of animal sex crimes in rural Missouri last year now faces misdemeanor charges.
Sofina Bonfanti, 38, is charged with two counts of sex with an animal. Prosecutors from Crawford County, Missouri, filed charges against her on Wednesday. Court documents allege that the offenses date back to last June.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Bonfanti handed over a cellular to a juvenile last summer. Another adult came across the phone, inspected it, and reportedly found several images and videos of Bonfanti having sexual contact with two dogs.
That adult later reported the discovery to authorities. Deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the alleged sex acts on Aug. 9, 2023. During a recent attempt to locate Bonfanti for questioning, authorities found one of two dogs caught on camera.
Court documents did not disclose whether Bonfanti is behind bars, but noted she is from Ballwin, Missouri. Court documents also state, “It is unknown where Bonfanti is living at this time.”
Bonfanti’s charges are both considered a Class A misdemeanor, which could mean up to one year in jail for each charge, if convicted. A court hearing amid this investigation is scheduled for March 7, per Missouri court records.
