The newer Apple Watch Series 9 came out in September during Apple’s yearly new product unveiling, so it was inevitable the Apple Watch Series 8 was bound to drop in price: And now, you can get the 41mm Apple Watch Series 8 GPS + Cellular in two colors for $324.99 (normally $499.99) in small/medium at Target. At the time of this writing, this is the lowest price you can find in any reputable major retailer, and it’s also the cheapest it has ever been, according to Honey’s price history.
A great Apple Watch for those trying to save some money
The Apple Watch Series 8 is still a great smartwatch. It’s more affordable than the Series 9 and has many of the same features, and you’ll still get the latest software updates, such as watchOS 10. Here is what we’ve said in the past about the Apple Watch Series 8:
The display on the Series 8 is an OLED display, which also supports an Always-On display mode, meaning you can have quick access to notifications and the time. Powering the Apple Watch Series 8 is the S8 chip, which is a dual-core processor. There’s also 32GB of internal storage, which should be plenty of space to download apps and save music for offline playback. Battery life on the watch is up to 18 hours, with that being extended up to 36 hours in the Low Power Mode. The watch is also IP6X dust-resistant and is swimproof with a water resistance rating of 50 meters. This should be good enough for shallow-water activities like swimming in a pool or ocean.
Some features that debuted with the Series 8 are the ability to measure and track changes in your body temperature while you sleep and the ability to detect if you’ve been in a car crash and automatically call for help. The additional perk you get with this specific model Target is selling is the cellular connection with your mobile network. You can make calls and use data or apps when you don’t have your iPhone with you or have wifi. You can think of it as an extension of your iPhone on your wrist.
