Business Briefs: QT closing in Midtown, Buckhead Landing’s new tenants

QuikTrip is closing its Midtown store at Peachtree and 6th Streets on May 3 because of crime and declining sales, according to a statement from the company. The pilot store, which opened eight years ago, was the first QT location without a gas station. QT said it would continue to open new locations and is in the process of identifying a new Atlanta location for a full-service QT that “we hope to have online within the next 2-3 years.”

The shopping center formerly known as Piedmont Peachtree Crossing, has been rebranded Buckhead Landing and has announced a slate of new retailers. Work continues to replace the former “Disco Kroger” with a new Publix, which is slated to open later this year. Owner/operator Regency Centers said additional new tenants will include Atlanta-based Carter’s, a restaurant called Aviva by Kameel, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, skin and body care shop SkinSpirit, fitness studio Alloy, waxing center Waxing the City, and Boston-based Burtons Grill & Bar. Many of the shopping center’s local favorites will continue to serve the Buckhead community, including Piu Bello, Urban Wu, Eye Gallery, Relax the Back, The Joint, Buckhead Alterations, Jamison Shaw, Lush Nails & Spa, Coast Dental, and Starbucks.

Atlantic Station has announced a long-term partnership with parking management company, The Car Park. Beginning in May, The Car Park will take over as the parking operator for the mixed-use development’s three-level parking deck with 6,000 spaces, over 200 metered parking spaces, and shuttle services around the neighborhood as well as to and from MARTA. The move to The Car Park comes after a 20-year contract with REEF/Lanier Parking comes to a close.
