Dana White Calls Out NBC for False Reporting of Jon Jones

UFC President Dana White took issue with NBC’s incorrectly reporting a prior situation involving heavyweight fighter Jon Jones.

White recently joined Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast for a wide-ranging conversation. As the two discussed the media inaccurately reporting White’s net worth — which he hasn’t disclosed — White called it an example of why the media shouldn’t be trusted. He then called out NBC for falsely reporting that Jones was arrested when he was accused of threatening a drug testing agent who went to his house before a fight.

The report now says that Jones was given a court summons.

“Don’t believe anything you fucking read,” White said. “Don’t believe anything you read. It’s all bullshit, man. Everything out there today, its like — I feel like the press is dying. It’s dying on the vine.

“Jon Jones got into some trouble here recently… NBC News put out a story that he was arrested, and he was never arrested. They don’t even try anymore.”

Journalistic standards are not what they used to be, White insisted.

“Back in the day when you were dealing with the media, they would fact-check,” he said. “They wouldn’t put out a story unless they knew it was absolutely true. Today, it’s more about being first than being right.”
