  • Motorcyclist Rendon Dietzmann posted videos of himself riding from Colorado Springs to Denver at speeds of up to 170 mph.
  • Earlier this year, he was extradited from his home state of Texas, and pled guilty to a charge of speed exhibition in Colorado.
  • Dietzmann has been sentenced to 14 days in jail, fined nearly $2,300, and has received 12 points on his license.

Rendon Dietzmann, the motorcyclist behind the Gixxer Brah YouTube channel, has been sentenced to two weeks in jail and almost $2,300 in fines after pleading guilty to a charge of speed exhibition.

Dietzmann’s case started after he posted a point-of-view video of himself riding his motorcycle from Colorado Springs to Denver in just 20 minutes — about a third as long as the drive takes at normal speeds. In the video, the rider’s speedometer shows speeds of more than 173 mph (278 km/h), as he weaves through slower traffic.

Colorado police said they were contacted by “numerous drivers and online viewers” to report the rider behind the Gixxer Brah YouTube channel, reports Westworld. Authorities linked the channel to Dietzmann, and eventually found him in Texas.

In February, Dietzmann was extradited to Colorado police. The rider was charged menacing, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, speeding 40 mph over the speed limit, engaging in an exhibition of speed, engaging in a speed contest, and driving a vehicle without license plates, but eventually reached a deal with the district attorney’s office and pled guilty to only speed exhibition.

On April 23, a Colorado court sentenced Dietzmann to 14 days in jail, a fine of $300, and he must reimburse the state’s taxpayers the $1,996.08 that it cost to extradite him from Texas. In addition, the rider receives 12 points on his license, which means that he won’t be able to ride in Colorado for up to one year.

Dietzmann might not find his fines too difficult to pay, though. The rider was selling T-shirts emblazoned with his mugshot on his website, and now offers a shirt with the slogan “Colorado’s Most Wanted” on it. The Gixxer Brah YouTube channel has also gained 25,000 new subscribers since this saga started.

Although a lawyer apologized to the court and the people of Colorado on Dietzmann’s behalf, the rider didn’t speak during his hearing. After entering his plea, Dietzmann was asked what made him guilty, but only said “uh” before his counsel, Levi Price, stepped in and said, “Mr. Dietzmann rode a motorcycle on an extreme speed on I-25.”
