ST. LOUIS – While enjoying a fun day at the zoo, discover how efforts are underway to save hundreds of species, both here and around the world. The Saint Louis Zoo is hosting its Endangered Species Day this year on Friday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To mark Endangered Species Day, the Zoo has arranged special activities throughout the zoo. There will be children’s activities that highlight specific animals at the zoo that are endangered. Scheduled keeper chats will allow the public to meet members of the Animal Care team.
Stops around the zoo will feature Zoo experts talking about different endangered species, the threats facing their environments, and how you can help. Also the gift shops will be selling sustainable merchandise that benefits animals’ natural habitats and the communities that coexist with endangered species.
Food and drink specials include globe-shaped cookies at Lakeside Cafe, vegetarian fried rice and spring rolls at Cafe Kudu, and Sumatran Tiger Misto at Starbucks.

- American Red Wolf
Those who want to contribute before the event can bring a wish list item with them when they visit. The Zoo has a list of enrichment items they use for their animals’ wellbeing. Gift drop-offs will be available at the Zoo entrances.
