Seven dead from gun violence across St. Louis within days

ST. LOUIS – At least seven people have been shot and killed within a span of days across St. Louis.

Police have had their hands full as gun violence has erupted across the city. They say one murder is too many, and they want it to stop.

The most recent incident occurred Wednesday morning in the 4800 block of Farlin Ave. One victim was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds, according to officials. There is no suspect or motive as of Wednesday evening.

“We are at 58 homicides this year compared to 56 homicides (this time) last year,” Sgt. Charles Wall said. “More homicides happening in one week versus another week but ultimately…in our system, one homicide is too many.”

Police found 56-year-old Winfred Bowers dead near Harney and Davison Avenues of north St. Louis Monday. Bowers was inside a crashed vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head.

The remaining five murders occurred across the city.

“Certainly, seven is concerning, but when you compare it to years past, I think the numbers are somewhat consistent,” Wall said. “But ultimately, anytime someone loses their life, it’s very concerning. We take all these investigations very seriously.”

Anyone with information on any of the incidents is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
