In his investigation into how former President Donald Trump handled sensitive government information after leaving office, Special Counsel Jack Smith has added three new criminal counts against Trump.

Following the delivery of a subpoena to Trump for the materials he had in his possession, investigators charged the former president with one additional count of willful retention of national defense information as well as two additional obstruction counts related to alleged attempts to delete surveillance footage at Mar-a-Lago.

The indictment states that “Count 32 of this Superseding Indictment charges the document that TRUMP possessed and displayed on July 21, 2021.”
