“The Irregular at Magic High School” is returning with a new season in 2024|Arab News Japan

The production staff for the anime “The Irregular at Magic High School” officially announced that the new season of the light anime series will premiere in 2024. 

During the 30th Dengeki Bunko Summer Festival, the staff of the popular anime announced that a new season is coming in 2024. While they didn’t specify an exact date, they revealed the official teaser trailer and the visuals for the upcoming season.

Director Jimmy Stone, who previously worked on episodes of the anime, will be the lead director for the sequel and 8Bit Animation Studio will be the lead animators for the show. 

The show’s original soundtrack (OST) will be composed by popular composer Taku Iwasaki, who previously worked on popular OSTs such as, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency (2012), Black Butler (2009) as well as the first season of The Irregular at Magic High School (2014). 

Three original voice actors of the show, Saori Hayami,  Miyuki Shiba, and Kiyuno Yasuno, will also be returning to the show.

The anime is based on Tsutomu Satō’s novel series “The Irregular at Magic High School,” which was published from 2008 to 2011. From July 2011 until September 2022, Satō’ and ASCII Media Works adapted the work in a light novel format, releasing a total of 32 volumes.

The light novel became one of the top-selling series in Japan as it sold around 22 million copies.

The first season of the show aired in April 2014 with 26 episodes, followed by the second season in October 2020 with 13 episodes.

A movie adaptation was premiered in 2017 titled “The Irregular at Magic High School: The Movie – The Girl Who Summons the Stars.”

The anime, as well as its various adaptations, are available on the anime streaming service Crunchyroll.
