Trump Advises Greene to Reconsider Vote Threat Against Speaker Johnson | Wayne Dupree

According to a source, during a phone conversation over the weekend, Donald Trump counseled Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to back down from her threat to demand a vote to remove Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

In the open, Trump has commended Johnson’s leadership and declared his opposition to moves to remove the speaker. According to three Republican sources who spoke to Politico and were aware of the talks, Trump instructed Greene not to go further with her threats to remove Johnson in private.

Greene said on Steve Bannon’s podcast that she is Trump’s most ardent ally in the capital.

However, Greene said, “everyone is trying to act like there is a problem between us.” “And I will tell you straight away that there isn’t.”

When Greene said, “I am just not someone that runs around and talks about my conversations with him,” she was alluding to her conversation with the former president. I cannot speak for President Trump or his opinions.

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) said that Greene and Trump did, in fact, have a nearly two-hour phone chat over the weekend. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), the second Republican to support Greene in her expulsion threat, was also on the line.

Zinke said the publication, “I have it under very, very good sources that President Trump did engage.” And maybe someone would conclude, as I hope they do, that ‘You made your point. However, avoid becoming a kamikaze since you will lose if you pursue this. And he mentioned that. I hope that turns out to be the case.
