Utah Woman Arrested After Friend’s Tragic Death in Murder-Suicide Plot | Wayne Dupree

After her friend was shot and killed while planning to kill themselves, a 21-year-old woman from Utah was arrested on suspicion of murder. Death and criminal discharge of a firearm are the charges against Heavenly Faith Garfield, who was nabbed on April 30. She was arrested on May 1 and is currently in jail without bail, according to records.

Based on a statement of probable cause, Garfield’s father called 911 to report the killing just before 3:30 p.m. local time on April 30. Legal papers said his daughter shot the 21-year-old victim at 10:45 a.m.; the victim’s name has not been made public.

Based on the statement, family members said that the friends had been talking about the suicide plan for a few weeks.

Police were shown text messages from the victim’s friend in which she said she wanted to die but “was too scared to kill herself.” According to the AP, the friend also told police that Garfield and the victim had made a deal to kill themselves.

News station KUTV reports that the friend told police that Garfield and the victim had planned for one of them to kill the other and then both of them. Officials said they found a 9mm bullet close to the victim’s body in a Saratoga Springs home where she was found dead, according to the news source.
