It’s still unclear how successful the Apple Vision Pro has been for Apple. However, the company’s first spatial computer has clearly attracted health workers’ attention and has proven successful for surgeons worldwide.
While BGR covered a few stories of successful surgeries with Apple Vision Pro, we keep hearing new stories about this spatial computer being used for complex procedures. Now, Firstpost highlights how an Indian doctor used Vision Pro to perform over 30 complex surgeries since this device was released in early February.
Dr. R. Parthasarathy is a surgical gastroenterologist and COO of GEM Hospitals. Based out of Chennai, India, he explains the headset provides real-time transmission without delays. “It offers enhanced vision and connectivity to the real world, allowing surgeons to view laparoscopic surgery footage as well as CT scans simultaneously. The device also allows for detailed examination of internal organs, with the ability to enlarge views to the size of a wall.”
The doctor also praises how Apple Vision Pro enables quick access to seek other expert opinions during surgery and even teach via FaceTime. While traditional surgical monitors are limited, Apple’s headset can help surgeons keep “multiple tabs open and view various data, including CT and MRI scans, simultaneously.”
What’s interesting about Apple Vision Pro being used in the health field is that the first surgery assisted with this device was in early March, and it’s been quickly spreading through the medical community.
At that time, surgeons in the UK conducted a procedure with the eXeX software, an AI program for surgical organization and workflow optimization.
That said, we still expect an international expansion of Apple Vision Pro. Currently, doctors can only perform surgery with Apple Vision Pro by buying one in the United States. There’s a rumor that this spatial computer might expand to Canada, the UK, China, and other countries in the coming months.
We first expected to learn more about it during Apple’s Let Loose event, but we might have to wait until WWDC 2024 for new information on that matter.
