DUBAI: The world’s famous three-layered wafered framework, KitKat, has a special place and cultural significance in Japan.

The UK famous chocolate bar, KitKat, acts as more than a chocolate candy bar in Japanese culture.

Since its launch in 1935, Kit Kat stood out among other chocolate bars due to their distinct chocolate covered wafer work.

The Japanese pronunciation of KitKat is quite different from its actual name; its pronounced Kitto Katto, which is very similar to Kitto Katsu, meaning good luck in Japanese.

As a result of this, the country symbolized Kit Kat bars as a sign of good luck or a good omen.

The chocolate company partnered with the Japan Post to launch a nationwide campaign allowing people to mail friends and/or family Kit Kat bars as good luck gifts before any stressful or challenging times, such as, before university entrance exams.

Being so popular in Japan, Kit Kat manufacture Nestle, teamed up with pastry chefs to offer more limited-edition flavors of the chocolate bar to be sold in the Japanese market.

With over 300 flavors of the chocolate bar, it is now catering to the different regions and cultural flavors of the country.

Among the most notable flavors are the purple sweet potato, creamy wasabi, white chocolate, miso, Japanese plum, and many more.

There is also the option to buy these exclusive Japanese flavors; there are several stores, like Japan Candy Store and OMG Japan, that sell and ship these special exclusive flavors to almost anywhere in the world.
